THEME: Modeling and Metabolism in Muscle Research

Symposium Speakers:

KEYNOTE SPEAKER: We are honored to welcome Daniel Beard, PhD, from the University of Michigan Medical School. Dr. Beard’s research integrates computational modeling and metabolism, making him the perfect voice to lead this year’s theme. His talk is titled, The Vicious Cycle of Metabolic and Mechanical Dysfunction in Heart Failure

SPECIAL SESSION ON METABOLOMICS: Thanks to a generous collaboration with the UW Nutrition Obesity Research Center (NORC), we’ll feature a dedicated session on metabolomics with an introduction to NORC from Director Ellen Schur, MD, UW Medicine, and talks from NORC members, Rong Tian, MD, PhD, UW Anesthesiology & Medicine and Bioengineering and Karin Borndfeldt, PhD, UW Medicine and Lab Medicine & Pathology.

FEATURED CTMR INVESTIGATOR TALKS: You’ll hear from CTMR investigators, Princess Imoukhuede, PhD, of UW Bioengineering, and Michael Geeves, PhD, of the University of Kent.

AND MORE: In addition, you will hear from CTMR Pilot Awardees and poster presenters during the lightning talks and poster sessions. The poster session is happening during the lunch session this year, from 12-2pm, which is catered by Qdoba. Make sure to join us during that time to check out the 30 (!!) excellent poster presenters, enjoy some delicious food, and network with your colleagues.
