International Sarcomere Society Returns October 15th for the 2026–2027 Academic Year
The 2026–2027 academic year of the International Sarcomere Society seminar series kicks off on Thursday, October 15! This online seminar series meets bi-weekly on Thursdays, 8–9 am Pacific Time, and covers current state-of-the-art research related to sarcomere structure and function.

Welcoming a new co-organizer
We are excited to share that Dr. Meaghan Barry, Postdoctoral Fellow, Department of Cardiology, Johns Hopkins Medicine, is joining Dr. Matthew Childers, Research Assistant Professor in Bioengineering at UW, and Dr. Joe Powers, Assistant Professor at UW in the Departments of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology and Mechanical Engineering, as a co-organizer of the seminar series this year.

Meaghan’s Bio: I am a Postdoctoral Fellow at Johns Hopkins working with Dr. Anthony Cammarato and Dr. David Kass. My research focuses on how co-morbidities influence heart failure, with an emphasis on how subtle modifications to cardiac muscle proteins drive changes in cardiomyocyte function and pathophysiology.
First talk of the year: October 15th

Speaker: Dr. Nic Engles, Samantha Harris Lab, Cellular and Molecular Medicine and Physiology, University of Arizona
Talk Title: Myosin binding protein-C tunes force responses to rapid stretch in cardiac and skeletal muscles
